Location, Location, Location—The Big 3 when it comes to Real Estate…and what better place than Norris Lake.  We bought an 11-year-old house on Norris Lake 4 years ago and it was tired.  Designed by an older couple, it was a traditional layout with a small, dark kitchen, narrow deck and lots of wasted or hard to use space.  We could not just blow it up and start from scratch so we needed a way to maximize our investment and get a great house in the process.

 Obviously, the lake lifestyle is one of group gatherings of friends and family with our house just did not work.  Enter Mike Materna and Dan Coleman.  The most glaring need was a total demolition of the kitchen...but even new fixtures and cabinets was not enough to overcome the original design flaws.  We needed to re-shape the space.

 Mike made numerous visits to our house to measure, create, envision, measure again and create some more until we had come up with the perfect remodel plan.  His attention to our lifestyle, entertaining habits, average number of guests and his willingness to work within our budget were both refreshing.  Essentially we gutted the kitchen, took down the foyer and breezeway walls and opened the kitchen into what is now a great room Kitchen with island, dining area and living room all with spectacular views right onto the lake.  (SEE PICTURE)

 One construction started, his team was efficient and professional.  They made modifications as we went along and always had ideas about how to make the project even better.  Mike, his partner Dan Coleman and their team did such a nice job that the next year we tore off the old, narrow deck and they installed a super new, upper and lower deck with twice as much space and a railing system that did not detract from our view.  (See picture???) Oh yeah, One other thing:  We live 4 hours away and so Mike was able to do all of this work by calling, sending digital pictures and keeping in total contact with us during the work effort. 

 I would recommend Mike and Dan to anyone building a new house or doing a remodel at Norris.  Their work is excellent and their reliability and communication during the projects were top-notch.
